Hi everyone! I took a break from my blog during COVID, but I'm back! A friend of mine asked me about board review resources, so I thought I'd share some information I gave one of our fellows a little while ago. Hope you find this helpful. (I am sharing some links but I have no financial relationship with any of the entities below).
1. The Avidan Book (good for general questions with content that hasn’t changed)
2. The CHEST sleep book (you and your co-fellows could buy this together). These come in and out of print, and are harder to get, especially if you just want the sleep book out of the whole set.
3. AASM mock exams (use closer to your exam). This is a link to the AASM "Learning Catalog" but you may need to log in to get some of these resources. https://learn.aasm.org/Public/Catalog/Home.aspx?_ga=2.143708604.881036642.1624486082-678991775.1618329284
4. AASM questions (under the free items section in the “My Learning Catalog”). These were not available when I was a fellow, so I cannot attest to their quality, but the people who write these questions are awesome.
5. Board Vitals (use closer to your exam). You can also get ABIM MOC for this if you want it.
6. ICSD-3 You can find this in the AASM Learning Catalog.
7. Scoring Manual (especially the images and the highlighted items). Also found in the Learning Catalog.
8. AASM Board Review Crash Course- highly recommended. You can also ask the speakers questions during the breaks which is helpful. https://aasm.org/events/
9. AASM Board Review Bundle (you and your co-fellows could buy this together). It's also on sale during the SLEEP meetings. You guessed it...also in the AASM Learning Catalog.
10. Sleep Medicine Pearls by Richard Berry(I just generally like this book and used it as a reference even though the chapters are short)
Things I did not find as helpful for boards purposes or use, but some of my classmates liked them:
1. Principles and Practices of Sleep Medicine
2. Kryger’s case-basedboard review book
3. Teofilo Lee-Chiong's "Somnology": I have heard amazing reviews about this book, but have not read it myself. This is on my reading list!
